Ration shop (fair price shop)

For a fair price shop where card holders stand in the sun from opening time in the first week of the month, and an elderly person cannot hold a place for two hours. An example of how such a shop could call people in order; the ration, the card and any authentication stay with the shop.

About 4 min each · up to 150 waiting

    • Monthly ration 4 min
    • Sugar, oil or kerosene only 3 min
    • Card enquiry 5 min

Desks

  • Counter 1

    Calls from Ration

  • Counter 2

    Calls from Ration

Team

  • Shop dealer Owner

Sets up the line and hours, works Counter 1, adds card holders who have no phone and marks the elderly as priority.

  • Helper Staff

Weighs and hands over the ration at Counter 2 and calls the next token.

The day

Hours, the TV and the poster

  • Opening hours

Monday to Saturday, 8 am to 6 pm; Sunday closed.

Add public holidays and the shop's weekly off as closed days. When stock has not arrived, close that date too, so nobody scans the poster and walks over for nothing.

  • TV display

The token being called and the counter to go to.

Inside the shop, facing the door, where people outside can see it.

  • QR poster

On the shutter and the notice board outside, beside the stock list.

Tips

  • Wait at home, not in the sun.

A card holder scans the poster, takes a place and watches their page update. They see how many are ahead of them and an estimated wait as a range, and walk over when it is close.

    How it works →
  • Add the elderly yourself and put them first.

The owner can add a visit at the counter and hand over a slip with a QR code, and mark an elderly card holder as priority so they are called sooner.

    How it works →
  • Two counters, one line.

Both counters call from the Ration line, so the next token goes to whichever counter is free.

    How it works →
  • Close the day the stock is late.

A date can close and it beats the weekday. The customer's page then shows the shop is closed that day.
