Sports ground and turf

For a five-a-side turf with cricket nets and a small ground beside it, where teams book by the hour over phone calls and two teams sometimes arrive for the same slot.

Checks teams in when they arrive, runs each turf and net from a phone and marks the slot done when the time is up.

    Ticked: Front desk, Urgent

  • Groundsman × 2 Staff

Prepares the pitch and the nets between slots, and follows the pavilion TV to see which turf is called next.

The day

Hours, the TV and the poster

  • Opening hours

Every day, 6 am to 11 pm.

Close the ground on the days it is relaid or rested, and give a tournament day its own hours. Bookings already made on a day you close are listed so you can cancel or keep each one.

  • TV display

The token being called and the turf, net or ground to go to.

At the pavilion by the gate, where the next team waits for the turf to clear.

  • QR poster

On the gate and in the pavilion, so a team captain can book next week's hour before leaving.

Tips

  • A full-day match is one booking.

A booked time can be up to 12 hours, so a T20 is a four-hour booking and a full-day fixture one 12-hour booking. It has to fit inside the day's opening hours, and it holds the ground for all of it.

    How it works →
  • The captain books in their own name.

A booking is one person's, so the captain books the turf for the whole team, for today or the next six days. Each turf and net is a desk with nobody attached, and each takes one booking per slot.

    How it works →
  • Check the team in at the gate.

The captain presses I am here on arrival, or the ground manager, with the Front desk ability, checks the team in on the Waitlist. A booking nobody checks in is given up once the late window passes, and the slot does not sit blocked all evening.

    How it works →
  • Run the turfs from one phone.

The ground manager is staff with the Run desks ability: they start each turf and net from Desks you run on the Waitlist, call the team when the turf is clear and mark it done when the hour ends. Tick Run desks for a groundsman on Team and they can run a turf too.

    How it works →
  • Close for the monsoon by date.

When rain shuts the ground for a day, add it as a closed day. The teams booked on it are listed, so the owner can cancel each and the captain sees it on their phone.
