Gaming centre

For a gaming centre with PCs, console rooms and a couple of VR bays, where students arrive after college, every PC is taken, and nobody knows who was waiting first.

The day

Hours, the TV and the poster

  • Opening hours

Every day, 11 am to 11 pm.

Add the day the machines are upgraded as a closed day, and give exam weeks or tournament nights their own hours.

  • TV display

The token being called and the station to go to.

Above the counter, facing the seats where players wait.

  • QR poster

At the door and on the counter, so a player takes a place for the next free PC and waits at the snack bar instead of behind someone's chair.

Tips

  • Each station is a desk.

Six PCs are six desks with nobody attached, so the PC line takes six bookings for the same hour and gives a walk-in the next free PC. Consoles and VR are lines of their own, so a VR booking never holds a PC.

    How it works →
  • A group books a station each.

A booking is in one person's name and holds one station. Five friends who want five PCs at seven each book their own, for today or the next six days. A console room for the group is one booking, in one person's name.

    How it works →
  • End a session by hand.

The counter presses Complete on a station when the player's time is up, then Call next, from Desks you run on the Waitlist. Line Me Up does not switch the PC off.

    How it works →
  • Take a broken PC out with a break.

Pause the station with the reason "Other" and a return time. Players waiting see the delay, not the reason, and nobody is called to a PC that will not boot.

    How it works →
  • Check in a booked group.

The player presses I am here on arrival, or the counter checks them in on the Waitlist. The floor attendant has Front desk too, so they can check a group in or add a walk-in on the floor.
