Ice cream and juice counter

For a small ice cream and juice counter on a busy street, where the summer evening crowd forms a cluster at the window and nobody can tell who was first.

1 line · 2 desks · Café or restaurant picked in setup

The setup

Lines and what people choose

  • Serving counter walk-in

About 2 min each · up to 40 waiting

    • Ice cream scoops 2 min
    • Fresh juice 3 min
    • Falooda and sundaes 5 min

Desks

  • Ice cream window

    Calls from Serving counter

  • Juice window

    Calls from Serving counter

Team

  • Owner Owner

Serves at the Ice cream window, sets up the line and the hours, and prints the poster.

  • Counter helper Staff

Runs the Juice window and calls the next token when the blender is free.

The day

Hours, the TV and the poster

  • Opening hours

Every day, 2 pm to 11:30 pm.

Add the monsoon days you stay shut as closed days, so customers do not join a line for a counter that is not open.

  • TV display

The token being called and the window to go to.

Hung above the glass freezer, facing the pavement where people stand.

  • QR poster

On the freezer glass and on the lamp post out front, so a family can scan it and wait at the bench across the road.

Tips

  • One line, two windows.

Both windows call from the same line, so the first person to arrive is the first to be served, whichever window is free.

    How it works →
  • Take a break with a reason.

Pause the Juice window with the reason "Away" and a return time. The team sees "Away · back ~8:45", and waiting customers' estimates allow for it instead of a window that has stopped.

    How it works →
  • A phone is optional.

The owner adds a customer at the window and hands over a printed slip with a QR on it. Someone without a phone still has a token.
